The entire Malayalam Film Industry is passing through a scary phase of creative menopause and it is getting only murkier! How else would you describe the sudden interest in making non descript sequels to well made films of the 80's and the 90's? A better option would be to make no movies at all and let the theatres in Kerala screen excellent movies from across the state border. If you dont agree, please go and watch Sagar Alias Jackie Reloaded (or whatever!)
There is a limit to testing audience's patience and how could a veteran scriptwriter like S N Swamy do this to us? Even the ever dependable Jagathy Sreekumar irritates and it is completely uncool watching Bhavana drool over an ageing, out of shape Mohanlal! Are we saying that family packs are better than six and eight packs? Oh, Jesus!
Having Sobhana and K B Ganesh Kumar is a relief and probably the only justification to have endured this cinematic torture! Get a DVD of Irupatham Noottandu and watch it 25 times over but stay as far away as possible from theatres screening the sequel...
