Of Farewell Lunches...Part 2

February 12 happens to be B's birthday and we decided to make it special for her. We had also planned to buy something special for R who was hosting a lunch for all of us over the weekend. So, off we were to the HiDesign store in Kochi to select something special for R. Select we did, a beautiful laptop bag made of brown leather and the good thing was that it was portable! The other S had treated B to a pedicure (Ladies matter, this) and we decided to gift B with her favorite brand of clothing. B did select something of her choice (her choice is always elegant, btw!) and I also selected something for myself and off we were to eat at the restaurant of Hotel Gokulam Park Inn, Kaloor, Kochi.
Considering the fact that this happened just a few days after our lunch at Bubble, I was comparing this one with Gateway all along which is just not the right thing to do. Taj group is the ultimate in luxury and the others are just trying (though sometimes I feel they are trying in vain!). Having said that the lunch was quite enjoyable and presented a decent spread at a decent price. Choice of 2 soups, North Indian and South Indian bread, Rice, Pasta, Noodles, 4 Non Veg dishes and 6 Veg dishes and a fairly decent salad bar sounded exciting and the food was quite tasty! The reason why I suppose it did not appeal as much was because the dining area was kinda full and there were big groups making a lot of noise. Service was interrupted as a result but there were no major issues.

However, we were in for some disappointment at the dessert section. I was not sure whether it was due to the considerable crowd in attendance for lunch but I personally did not find anything much exciting at the dessert section. A cake and a tart are all I remember as of now, but that said the meal was good enough to deserve a moderate rating!
