I consider Rimi Tomy as the most talented among the young singers of Malayalam. For a singer of her age, Rimi has considerably expressed her vast range in singing a variety of songs and has experimented with her voice in this limited time span to achieve awe inspiring levels of success.
Chingamaasam (Meesha Madhavan); Kannanaayal (Pattanathil Sundaran); Arappavan ponnu (Vaasthavam); Sharabhu pole (Balram v/s Taradas); Changathikoottam (Notebook); Chocolate pole (Chocolate) and finally Arumughane from Mulla- all songs displaying her vast vocal range and bringing out the power house of talent that the young girl has been.
There are many who in spite of acknowledging her talent find her to be an upstart, thanks to her behavior on stage, but I don’t agree with any of them. There are some who are born with that “IT” thing and Rimi is one of them- a complete “livewire”. To start with, the girl has immense talent and what adds to it is the fact that she completely enjoys what she is doing- something that is evident from the sheer energy and enthusiasm with which she renders her songs on stage.
I had heard K S Chithra once remark that she finds Rimi Tomy as the most promising singer from the current generation- an opinion that I completely agree with.
If you are wondering why I am going on and on about the rolly polly singer, it is because she got married last week and the wedding photographs were splashed across all major news papers. Here is wishing Rimi all the very best and a very happy and prosperous married life while I look forward to more and more remarkable songs in that high energy vocals of the extremely talented singer…
Way to go, Rimi…
