Fake Swamis!!!

Time for yet another controversy- a very shameful one at that! Available above are the photographs of the most famous people these days in Kerala- Santhosh Madhavan alias Swami Amrithachaithanya and Himaval Maheshwara Bhadranandaji alias Ernakulam Swami!

While the former is interested in molesting minor girls with the help of some prominent names in the fields of culture, police and politics; the latter propogates peace and non- violence while carrying a pistol himself! The fun is that both these fake swamis rose to enviable stages of public support and attention in less than 5 years and have a mammoth following of admirers from all strata of the society! It finally took an Interpol enquiry to bring out their anti- social activities to the spotlight and after a lot of hype, hooplah and drama, the fake swamis have been brought to book by the state police! However, considering the fact that both the swamis have a lot of business going on with the top officials in the department and the home minister's family itself, one wonders what all this drama is going to finally end up with!!!

All this is another example of the sinister mindset of the Kerala society and the sense of false morality that has always been prevalent here! I dont think this kind of shameful association would be seen anywhere else in the world where the high ranked officials of the law and order department join hands with criminals in activities as nauseating as molesting minor girls! Santhosh Madhavan has also functioned as a five star pimp what with arranging television and movie actresses for the socialities who matter but his smartness lies in the fact that he had filmed all those activities and the CD's were safely stored in a bank locker- can you beat that?

It is encouraging that for the time being such criminals under the garb of swamis have been brought to book but no one knows what is going to be the outcome. Let us hope that the extensive media coverage that these issues have received work to the society's benefit in this case, for a change.

However, we cannot obviate the fact that this throws up serious questions on the direction towards which the Kerala society is moving. Probably, this is nothing but the logical outcome of the suppressed sexual desires of a society that has for long been governed by the cloak of false morality! All we can do is to raise both our hands towards the sky and pray to the almighty that innocent, young kids are protected from such kind of ills plaguing the society these days! Amen!!!
