Pachamarathanalil is a let down!

The only reason why I thought I would be able to sit through "Pachamarathanalil" was because it had Sreenivasan and Padmapriya playing the lead (Remember, their last film together was the moderately successful "Yes Your Honour"). One hour after the movie as I am typing this out, I am cursing myself for having believed in the 2 actors mentioned above!
Let us get into the thoughtless premise of the movie- Sachidanandan (Sreenivasan) and Anu (Padmapriya) dot on their daughter. They are approached by an ad film director (Vijay Menon) to cast the kid in an ad film. In the course of shooting for the ad film, the kid goes missing. Enter Inspector Venkidi (Nazar) who while trying to solve the mystery, discovers that the kid was not born to Sachi and Anu in the first place! If you feel the plot is interesting enough, please go watch the movie at a theatre near you because I really dont have the patience to take a recap of what all I went through while watching the movie!
The problem with Pachamarathanalil is its script- there is no cohesiveness to it and it meanders aimlessly between characters. The direction is equally lacklustre. Add to that, the kind of dialogues which you dont even hear in serials these days, you start cringing in your seat.
None of the technical departments help the director. There is not much in scope for Manoj Pillay, but he has captured the climax scenes well. Renjan Abraham cuts a sorry picture as the editor. Art Direction is loud and unnatural.
Sreenivasan looks dull and disinterested. Padmapriya has been whitewashed to look good, but she ends up looking horrible. Lalu Alex repeats himself for the umpteenth time. Nazar is impressive. Lal and Meera Vasudevan in their cameos do not hold interest.
The worst part of casting is in selecting the child actor who has a critical role to play. The kid overacts to its heart's content and honestly, there is nothing attractive about the kid that would force someone to cast her in an ad film.
Debutant scriptwriter- director Leo Thadeus can consider himself lucky since he could convince Revathy Kalamandir, Sreenivasan and Padmapriya to cooperate with him on this one! However, I dont think the audience would be understanding enough.
Skip this one- you would not miss anything!!!
