Oberoi Restaurant- Kochi

Oberoi Bar on MG Road, Kochi is apparently one of the oldest in the city and most of the Kochiites will remember the old building adjacent to Seematti and bang opposite Chennai Silks near to the Northend of MG Road. The news here is that the same group has started a restaurant on the meeting point of Veekshanam Road with Chittoor Road in the same premise where Alappatt's Only Veg Restaurant used to function earlier.
I dont think it has been a very long time since the restaurant opened, at least not to my knowledge and when the restaurant came to my notice, me and a friend of mine decided to check it out. We went to the place for dinner on a Saturday evening. The Air conditioned dining hall was quite crowded and the Menu Card looked like it was quite easy on our purse. We ordered for Kerala Parotta with Vegetable Curry and the dishes were served quite fast.
The Parottas were delicious and quite filling, but the Vegetable curry left a lot to desire. Apparently, one of the chefs was off on that particular day (as our ill luck would have it!) and there was a big struggle in the see through Kitchen to prepare and deliver dishes on time.
The restaurant also has a juice corner that serves fresh Fruit Juices and scores moderately on the neatness aspect and lay out. I would recommend the restaurant for a quick byte but it would not be advisable to choose Oberoi if your idea is to relax comfortably and eat with a large group in tow!
